Every Patient Deserves Individualized Care

Momentum Physical Therapy, Nutrition and Wellness (formerly Minster Individualized Therapy) was formed in 2018 by Maria Zenz. This clinic is deeply rooted in the belief that each patient deserves individualized care. The clinic specializes in the care of all ages and genders who have acute and chronic pain, prenatal and postnatal pain, pelvic dysfunction, orthopedic issues, migraines, TMJ and countless other diagnoses.

We are a fee for service practice. We do not bill insurance. Upon request, you will be provided with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance for any available out-of-network benefits. In the “New Patient Forms” tab, there is a worksheet you can complete prior to your evaluation to help you navigate reimbursement through your insurance for out-of-network therapy services.

Maria Zenz, Physical Therapist and Owner

I’m Maria Zenz, the sole owner and Physical Therapist at Momentum Physical Therapy, Nutrition and Wellness. I graduated from The University of Findlay with my Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 2010 and have over a decade of experience treating men, women and children from the ages of infant to 102 years old for a variety of conditions. I have additional training in orthopedic and sports medicine conditions, manual techniques, pediatric care, and am certified in Astym therapy, Kinesiology taping, cupping and Neurologic Dry Needling with an Advanced Certification specific to the Low Back, Pelvis and Hips for Dry Needling. I am also a CrossFit L1 and Burgener Weightlifting L1 Trained Coach at Team Stomp CrossFit in Lima, OH.

Formerly, there were Minster and Lima locations of my business, but both grew very quickly and in June 2021 I made the transition to being in the Lima location only. This allows me to focus on one location and the growth of my business, with more time for my family and 2 little girls!

One of my specific passions and areas of expertise since 2015 has been in women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction. I have over 300 clinical and training hours devoted to these topics, and have had the opportunity to make countless women well again. Because this topic is sometimes sensitive for women, I make it my mission to make the entire care experience as comfortable for each individual as I possibly can. I have the utmost respect for every woman in her own beliefs and needs, and will do my best to accommodate for each and every one of you.

The other specific area of passion in regards to the physical therapy side of my practice is treating high school, adult and all ages of CrossFit athletes who are limited in mobility or strength, have suffered an injury or are dealing with transitioning back to fitness after a period of time off from injury or pregnancy. I personally spend a great deal of time focusing on Nutrition, CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting because I’m a true believer in the “practice what you preach” philosophy. Wellness, health and restoration of normal movement are integral for success and well-being, and I want to help you get there!

The last area of expertise is as a Nutrition Coach certified through Precision Nutrition. My goal with nutrition is to introduce clients to a macronutrient and micronutrient based eating plan that is sustainable, individualized to their goals (losing weight, building muscle, body composition changes) and in the end of the coaching period leaves them with the knowledge to continue these lifestyle changes for the rest of their lives. Nutrition coaching options are found under the “Nutrition” tab.

I consider myself an “open book” with my patients, so if you have a question regarding your care or whether or not my clinic is the right fit for you, please call! Since I am the sole owner and also the practicing Physical Therapist, please allow 1-2 business days for a return phone call. I truly look forward to meeting you!

Do I need a referral from a doctor?
While your insurance may allow you to attend rehabilitation without a prescription or referral, it is required that you have a provider managing your overall health care. Many conditions involving the pelvis and pediatrics can be medical in nature and require ruling out of more serious conditions before coming to the clinic. It is also helpful to have a medical provider with whom I can coordinate care and discuss your health as a team.

What will we do on my first visit?
First, we will talk. After reviewing any forms that you bring in, you will have the opportunity to share your history and concerns. The exam will be discussed with you so that you can have any questions answered right away. Your exam may include general movement like bending forward and backward, observing how you move your body, and specific tests of your joints, muscles, and nerves. If you come to the clinic for pelvic rehabilitation, an assessment of your pelvic muscles internally may be valuable, and you will have the option to choose or refuse any part of the examination or treatment with which you don't feel comfortable. The first visit will also include treatment based on your specific needs.

How many visits will it take to get better?
Without an evaluation, this is hard to answer. Generally by the 3rd visit you should see an improvement in your symptoms and function. Women’s health patients are generally seen for a total of 2-4 visits unless their impairments are chronic in nature. Orthopedic patients may require once or twice a week visits if their symptoms are acute. It is typical to have significant improvement by the 4th visit. However, some patients find that physical therapy on a monthly basis helps keep them functioning at the level they desire and will schedule “tune ups” accordingly. Some patients are better in 2 visits, some patients in 12. So much depends on the individual level of health, commitment to self-care, root cause of dysfunction, and how many compensations have occurred over time. It can be a process to “peel the onion”.

What should I expect?
For my Neurologic Dry Needling patients, be sure to wear clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area. For my women’s health patients, especially my new postnatal moms, I welcome you to bring your infants with you to the visits, as I know from personal experience that childcare is so difficult to come by, and we should never have to sacrifice our own health to meet the needs of our children (although I’ll be the first to admit that I do it too on occasion!). This clinic has roots in a passion of making people feel well again, with individualized care that you don’t always find in the normal “hustle and bustle” of an outpatient office.
